Strep Throat!

It has been a while since I wrote because I was sick last week.  Wednesday morning I woke up with a sore throat.  I took tylenol and that helped it not hurt so much.  By Wednesday night it hurt a lot more and by Thursday morning I was miserable.  I alternated tylenol and IB Profen, but it didn't seem to even help at all.  It hurt so bad to swallow.  My body ached as well and I was so tired.  I went into the health clinic Friday morning to get a Strep test done and it was positive.  I was so happy it was positive (and that it wasn't something viral) because I then knew once I took antibiotics for a while I would feel better.  Relief was in sight.  The doctor told me I should feel better in about 24 hours.  Unfortunately my throat didn't feel better for 30 hours.  But I was so happy when I could finally swallow without it hurting so much.  This is only my 2nd time having Strep and I hope it is my last.  I think I would rather be sick with anything else.

I was really lucky that my husband was so awesome and took care of the kids for almost 4 whole days (he had to work part of Wednesday and part of Thursday).  He did everything (except of course nursing Shirley- he just brought him to me when he was hungry).  I was able to sleep anytime (or at least try to with my throat hurting so bad).  He even took care of me and gave me a massage and stuff like that.  I was very grateful.  It really made being sick easier.

Father and Son Camp Out!

Last Friday was our Stake's Father and Son camp out.  Walter and Jem love going camping.  Especially with their Dad.  It was a little lonely for me, but I really enjoyed knowing my boys were having a great time with their Dad.  Here are a few pictures of their camp out.

Mesa Temple!

Last Friday we were able to go to the Mesa Temple.  It was so nice going.  September was the last time we went to the Temple (the Sacramento Temple) and it is always hard to go after having a baby.  It was a beautiful day.  The kids went with Mike to the Visitor's Center while I went in the Temple and then I played with the kids outside on the Temple grounds while Mike went in.  I am so glad we were able to go.

The short video of our family was supposed to be a picture. Before we drove home we stopped by Deseret Book and bought a painting of Christ. It was on sale for 50% off plus we had 22 dollar store credit saved up so we got it for a very good deal. It looks very nice in our house.

Viral Infection!

I was so hoping I was done having sick kids.  I felt the odds were in my favor, but I was wrong.  Walter has a viral infection that has caused red bumps all over his body (except for his head).  I took him to the doctor to make sure it wasn't chicken pox.  Luckily, it isn't.  He has been vaccinated but I know some kids still get a mild case of it.  I had chicken pox twice as a kid and I am still not immune.   I still feel bad for Walter.  He is trying so hard to not scratch.  He has started coming up with ways to "not scratch" like rub his back up against the couch.  Hopefully it won't last long and hopefully none of my other kids will catch it.

Phoenix Zoo!

Last Wednesday night we drove up to Phoenix and stayed two nights in a hotel.  On Thursday we went to the Phoenix Zoo and on Friday we went to the Temple.  We had a lot of fun.  We stayed in a really nice hotel (Quality Inn and Suites in Mesa) that was still reasonably priced(we got a good military discount).  It had a living room with a kitchen and a separate bedroom.  The couch pulled out into a bed and the boys really liked that.  They slept there.  Plus there were two tvs and it had a pool and hot tub.  The continental breakfast was really good as well.

Thursday we got up, got ready, ate breakfast, and then the boys went swimming in the hot tub. Then we went to the Phoenix Zoo. It was a lot of fun. The weather was in the 80's so it wasn't too hot. The Zoo was pretty big and we were tired by mid afternoon so we didn't see everything. We did take the train tour though and I enjoyed that. The kids had a blast. I was sad that Rilla missed the petting zoo because she was napping. She would have enjoyed that. If we ever go again we will have to do that first.

They loved the carousel. Walter wouldn't go on the camel ride.  Jem loved it. Rilla liked running around a little too much. She had to be in the stroller quite a bit or we wouldn't have seen as much as we did. She seemed to always want to run the way we already came instead of the direction we were going. There are lots more pictures of the zoo that I will put in April's slideshow that I will work on this week.

Doll House!

Here is the doll house I got at the post yard sale for $10.00.  It is a Fisher Price doll house and has a bunch of furniture.  Now all I need to do is get some people for it.  Even the boys like playing with it.
